The Lost.....The Dark Ground

This is no cliched fantasy but an innovative, exciting and moving story with an interesting twist and a deeper theme of overcoming disadvantage and depression

  1. I agree, this is a wonderful book and I loved it!!! I think it's a pity that the other books that follow in the trilogy aren't available in Pakistan! But perhaps we can find them at an Old book shop because the oxford editions aren't the only editions since the book was published in 2004.The story's got an amazing twist and Gillian Cross defines"SUFFERING" in an extraordinary and touching way.

the story's and the plot's really gud and i must say that gillian cross has one imagination but if only she had just left out all the unecessary details........it would've been much better !!!!

  3. You're right, too many details can cause the story to become extremely boring and sometimes lulls the reader to sleep. Last night for example, I was wide awake and thought I should re-read the book again, so I opened it and in less than a minute I was fast asleep!!
Details are necessary but not ALL the time, most of the time while reading a book, details are just plain torture and trying to understand them is worse!!!=)

  10. I read this whole novel just for the ending that how Robert got shrunk? What happened? What will happen next? How they will grow again?but after reading this novel I got none my questions answered.I really like this book because its the only book perhaps in entire world that made mad to know that what will happen next and curious too so for this hats off to Gillian Cross. And that's the reason I m dying to read the next part.Well I love this novel because it have suspense, secrets and the best thing it was a mystery. It different from the others and I will never forget this book in my life.

  15. I have all my sympathies for everybody who read this. I used to love this book in the starting.....till i read the ending. And it was very very weird and very crazy. Actually it wasn't crazy, it was silly. Gillian Cross should have made it exciting. Such as fantasize it a bit. It would be nice if Robert could fly and fight with birds. Well, Gillian Cross wanted to teach us a lesson. That we had to live with reality. But I don't think 'shrinking' is part of reality.

In short, I'm really confused and I don't get it at all.
